CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGNS

South Asia Church Building + Water Well

The total cost of this project is $16,000.

Designs For Hope would like to oversee the construction and implementation of 27 church buildings and water wells for Evangelist / Church Planter in a country rife with Christian persecution.

These church planters minister in interior, rural villages with mostly daily wage earners and farmers.  By providing a structured place where clean water can be presented to the villagers, we are confident that we can break the barriers of hatred towards Christians and extend the love of Christ to those who have never heard this good news.

Refurbish An African Water Well

The need for clean, safe, and reliable water is one of the biggest needs across the globe.  Nowhere is it more evident than in rural African communities.

Alongside our local church partners in East Africa, we are identifying broken water wells and getting permission to refurbish them as a way to love and minister to the communities.  This water will meet the needs of hundreds of children and families in each community while opening the door for spiritual conversations.

Each refurbishing project costs approximately $1500 to repair and revive a wellspring for life.  Our church partners have identified 12 projects that need immediate maintenance.

The cost to repair a well is only 15% of drilling a new one!  Make your money count!

Provide A Water Filter

Every $30 will provide a water filter for a family in a community where our partner churches reside and minister.

Sometimes called miracle buckets, these simple water filters immediately change the lives of men, women, and children.  These filters can provide 1,000,000 gallons of clean water (equivalent to 100 people for 10 years) and will eliminate harmful bacteria and viruses known to cause waterborne disease.

Water filters have been provided to families in every country we serve and are often the easiest gateway into sharing the love of Christ in communities.

Provide A Solar Cube

Perhaps the single greatest impediment to sustained economic and social growth is the pervasive problem of energy poverty — the lack of access to a steady, clean, and safe supply of electricity. According to the International Energy Agency, roughly 1.2 billion people around the world lack access to electricity.

Because electricity is so scarce in rural areas, when a pastor can offer a free charging station for cell phones, it opens up opportunities for him to serve his community in a new way. These pastors also use their electricity for lights in their homes and churches, for studying and preparing sermons, and for security.

Solar electricity is a great tool to engage the lost in communities, especially in unreached people groups. The provision of lights or cell phone charging allows a pastor the opportunity to spend a continuous amount of time with those they are trying to reach. This builds a friendship and gives these pastors an opportunity to share the light of Jesus in their communities.

South Asia Water Wells

Designs For Hope is partnering with churches and denominations in South Asia. One of our collective goals is to bring safe and available water to villages by drilling water wells and installing submersible pumps at churches in areas where there is a scarcity of water.

In areas of unreached people groups, it can be dangerous to proclaim the Gospel on the street. There are many countries in the world where it is illegal to proselytize. So, how do you communicate the love of God to those who live with a worldview that is vehemently opposed to the Gospel? You show them Love. God is love, and when you communicate the gospel through acts and deeds, it can break down barriers that have been built over generations. When you can offer a thirsty mother and her children a clean glass of water, it can be hard to argue that there is grace living inside a believer (and a church). There is a beautiful marriage between God’s love for people and the command to help the poor and oppressed.

Train A Pastor

Most pastors and church leaders in the developing world lack basic theological and pastoral training. They have been called by God to shepherd their people, but their resources are limited. What better way to empower an entire congregation (and community) than to equip its leaders. For only $250, our seminary-level Biblical education offers an accredited certification in Christian Ministry through Birmingham Theological Seminary. This 12-month program is taught and led by trained and approved Bible teachers.

We have personally experienced the hunger and desire for not only training but the application of these tools and resources. Because of this, the training includes classes on Biblical theology, evangelism, Old Testament and New Testament studies, church history, and much more.

Karimajong-01.png

Karimojong Water Well, Uganda

The Dodoth is a tribe among the Karimojong ethnic group. They are located in northeast Uganda, bordering Kenya in the east and South Sudan in the south. They are fierce warriors who have lived in Uganda for several centuries when they migrated from Ethiopia.

The British couldn't control them because of their violent state, leaving them uncivilized. They consider cattle as royalty and all men's success and position are measured by livestock. Men who don't have much livestock engage in violent cattle raids among neighbors. The acquisition of modern firearms has worsened the raids. There are many widows due to death in raids.

They hold traditional beliefs. They believe in a god named Akuj and in mysterious powers, spiritual beings, and divinations. Designs For Hope is partnering with a Ugandan ministry targeting the Karimojong with the gospel. One way to minister to this people group is providing for physical needs. Church planters have identified two initial locations to plant, including the provision of clean water that will open up opportunities for engagement.

Sponsor a South Asian Church Building

Designs For Hope would like to oversee the construction and implementation of 27 church plants in South Asia in 2022 in partnership with several ministry partners who are engaged in reaching unreached people groups.

The construction of these churches will consist of the following: a common block-style building, solar-powered electrification, and a water well. The addition of solar and water are for the purposes of meeting the physical needs of individuals within the community as a tool for breaking down barriers of hostility towards Christians, thus opening the door for spiritual conversations.
