Designs For Hope is an organization comprised of followers of Jesus Christ.  The absolute best way to understand and learn about any organization is to experience it on the relational level.  Statements of faith can tell you what a faith led organization’s beliefs are, but they can’t tell you who they are. The Holy Scriptures We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God in its original form and is inerrant, infallible, and authoritative as the final in all matters of faith and practice.  Although written by men, its author is God. 

God We believe there is only one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. 

Jesus Christ We believe in the full humanity and full deity of Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God.  We believe in his virgin birth, his sinless life on earth, his death on the cross as the only substitutionary atonement for our sins, his bodily resurrection from the dead, his ascension into heaven where he currently sits at the right hand of the Father, and his eventual bodily return. 

Man We believe that man was created in the image of God without sin.  We believe that the first man, Adam, chose to sin and so all of mankind has inherited a sin nature from him.  As such, all of mankind is lost is its sinfulness and has no means of salvation outside of Jesus Christ. 

Salvation We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.  This salvation is the free gift of God. All those who place their faith in Jesus Christ receive forgiveness of sins, a right standing before God, and eternal life with God in heaven. 

Designs for Hope and Missions The last command that Jesus gave before he ascended into heaven was the command to make disciples of all nations.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are all to be witnesses in our local communities (Jerusalem), our regions (Judea and Samaria), and the whole world (the ends of the earth).  Designs for Hope exists to partner with mission efforts throughout the world in order to advance the cause and message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. 

Designs for Hope and Ministering to the Poor Throughout all of scripture, God has given the ongoing and continuing command to minister to the poor.  It was built into the Mosaic Law; it was proclaimed by the Prophets; it was exemplified in the Life of Jesus Christ; and it was carried out faithfully by the early church.  Humanitarian efforts without the gospel provide only temporal relief from a problem whose solution is ultimately eternal.  On the other hand, mission efforts that focus only on evangelism fall short of the heart and example of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  By partnering with existing mission efforts, Designs for Hope seeks to minister to the poor as those mission efforts share the good news of salvation.
